Kadans (“we”) makes the Kadans app for Android, Linux and Windows and runs the server it talks to. This page says what we keep about you, why, who helps us, and for how long. Questions: support@kadansplanning.com.

In short

• We keep what you put in Kadans so we can show it on your devices and remind you. That is all we use it for.
• No ads, no tracking, no analytics, nothing sold or shared for marketing. This website sets no cookies.
• You can delete anything, and your whole account, at any time.

What we keep, and why

• Your account: your username, your email address, the name you choose to show, your time zone and language, and your password as a one-way hash, which we cannot read. If you turn on two-factor authentication, what it needs to check your codes. If you sign in with Google: Google's identifier for your account and the email address Google gives us.
• What you write in Kadans: your tasks, their times and how they repeat, their occurrences and your notes on them, your focus cycles and sessions, and your budget: accounts, movements, transfers, categories, limits, exchange rates and recurring rules.
• Your devices and sign-ins: for each device you sign in on, its kind and when it was last seen, and for a phone the token Google gives us to send it notifications. Your sign-ins, so you can see and end them.
• Your subscription: what Google Play tells us about it: whether it is active or in its trial, and when it ends. Never your payment details: Google Play takes the payment.
• Records of what happened: our server's logs say what happened and when, with your account's number, but never your email address, your name or what you wrote. Our measurements are counts and durations, with nothing about you.

We use all of it only to run Kadans for you: to show your data on your devices and keep them in step, to ring your reminders, to send the emails your account needs (confirming your address, resetting your password, confirming a change or a deletion), and to keep the service working and secure.

Who helps us

A few services help us run Kadans. Each gets only what its job needs.

• OVHcloud rents us the server where Kadans, its database and its backups are.
• Google: Firebase Cloud Messaging carries notifications to phones (a notification's text, such as a task's title, passes through it); Google Sign-In, if you choose to sign in with Google; Google Play, for the app and its subscription.
• Resend sends our emails: it gets your email address and the email.
• GitHub hosts the files of the computer app: it sees the address of whoever downloads them.
• Cloudflare answers for our domain name. The app's traffic does not go through it.

We do not sell your data and we do not give it to anyone else, unless the law obliges us to.

How long we keep it

• Your tasks, focus history and budget: until you delete them, or your account.
• Occurrences of a task nobody acted on (never done, moved or noted): 90 days after their time.
• The notification centre: 30 days.
• A computer you stop using: 180 days after it was last seen. A phone: until you sign out on it or remove the app.
• Sign-in tokens: 7 days after they expire.
• Logs and measurements: 30 days.
• Nightly backups: 14 days.
• A deleted account: closed at once, then erased with everything in it 7 days later. The backups that still hold it are gone 14 days after that. We keep a note that the account existed (its number and dates, nothing else) for 30 days.

How we protect it

• Every connection to Kadans is encrypted (HTTPS).
• Your password is kept only as a hash, and you can turn on two-factor authentication.
• Each account sees only its own data. Signing out ends the session at once, on the server too.
• Our logs never hold your email address, your name or what you write.

Your choices

• See and change your data in the app, and delete any of it.
• Delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete my account) or on the account deletion page.
• Ask us for a copy of your data, or anything about it: support@kadansplanning.com.
• Turn notifications off in your phone's or computer's settings.

Children

Kadans is not made for children under 13, and we do not knowingly keep data about them. If you think a child has an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes, we update this page and its date. If a change matters to how your data is used, we tell you in the app or by email first.
